A green-grey cactus with sharp spines that form tall, slim and spiny columns. Abundant in Mexico, this particular species of cacti is cultivated for its edible fruit that can grow up to 5 metres tall in its natural habitat. Wavy margins are separated with broad intervals of the fleshy skin. In the right conditions it can flower (and then fruit), with funnel shaped yellow centres and pink-white petals, normally between late Feb to May and again in September.

HATES- Water-logged soil.
